10 Easter Egg Fillers that Aren’t Candy

#Your kids will actually love these!

Do you ever feel like every holiday is centered around sugar? I do. While I know the major holidays in my life have a much deeper meaning, it seems like food is often the focus. For example, we just took our kids to an Easter Egg hunt at church last week. They both came home with a bucket full of candy; way too much candy. Sugar rush, anyone?

Now, I love candy as much as any mom on the verge of a breakdown, but too much is not a good thing. Too much, and my kiddos are bouncing off the walls like crazy, which only makes me crazier. Maybe you’re thinking, “Okay, just don’t give it to them all at once.” Well, duh, I know that! But, I also know the more candy we have the more tempting it is for everyone (me included).

So, to help save a little bit of my sanity and yours, I have compiled a list of Easter Egg fillers that aren’t candy. I think you and your kids will love these!

At this age you don’t even need to fill the eggs!
  1. Mini dinosaurs– Make a dino-riffic addition to your Easter Egg hunt. These are especially amazing if you have a dinosaur loving kid like I do. Dinos are about 3″, so you’ll need to make sure your plastic eggs are large.
  2. Matchbox cars – little boys can never have too many!
  3. Bubbles – They always make the day better and the mini bottles are inexpensive and perfect for little hands.
  4. Squishy Toys These are just so cute and satisfying to, you know, squish!
  5. Stickers – The possibilities here are endless! Divide up one package to fill several eggs!
  6. Stampers – These spring themed self-inking stamps are great for all ages. My kiddos especially enjoy washing them off the walls in our home.
  7. Slap Bracelets – Not only are they fun to wear, these Super Hero designs make them a cool addition to any wardrobe.
  8. Coins – Clean out the change in your purse. Kids love to get money. You know you have a ton of pennies and nickels you’ll never spend.
  9. Puzzle Erasers – Tiny erasers shaped like animals that double as a puzzle? Yes, please! Everything is better when it’s miniature, right?
  10. Temporary Tattoos – I always thought these were so cool when I was little!

Our family Easter Egg hunt is one of my favorite Easter traditions, along with dying eggs and sunrise service on Easter morning. How does your family celebrate Easter?
I would love to hear from you!
